Hey fellow bloggers
I was just thinking about different ways to save money. I think this is something that most of us are having to really think about these days-not just us stay at home mommies. Some tactics I'm working on:
coupon clipping
reading the store ads and trying to find sales in stores that match coupons that I have clipped (this is actually very worth it sometimes)
cooking rather than eating out
making coffee at home vs. running through Starbucks (but I still have to occasionally because it's it's in my blood to want Starbucks constantly)
using tupperware vs. buying ziploc bags
drinking yummy Flushing city water vs. buying bottled water
hitting the library for movies vs. ordering through on demand
Having at least a couple dinners per week that contain no meat (it's healthier for us anyway)
Outlet shopping
Utilizing the outdoors for climate control (AKA opening windows)
What are your methods?
P.S. How is everyone feeling now that the elections are over? Since I have been alive I don't know of another election that people were so emotional about. People who typically don't get involved in politics were informed and passionate. I certainly feel as though I may have a few more white hairs because of it. I will never forget Tuesday. I will never forget what I did that day. I will never forget about how I felt when I was watching the election coverage. I will never forget seeing Jessee Jackson crying and hearing McCain's speech at the end. I was so impressed with his speech. I felt like he really said some great things and handled losing very eloquently.

Ebay, once I got my baby girl 6 pairs of shoes for $11!!! Craigslist too.
Buying bulk at Sam's club.
Packing James' lunches (every gosh darn day)
No more soda in the house.
My mother in law thinks we are starving and left a PALLET of canned veggies on our pourch--NICE.
Downsized from gigantic SUV to little SUV--saves gas and insurance.
And last but not least, got a J.O.B. blech :o)
PS this election WAS interesting. Got a little too interesting at home too since Big Honey and I canceled out each others' vote.
What I do and what I say I'll do:
I've become a big fan of Kroger's buy one get one free, especially meats.
I only buy my kids' shoe when the BOGO's going on at payless.
I consign at two diffrent stores; one for clothes, one for houseware.
Return bottles and cut coupons.
We've added insulation to the house. probably should chaulk the windows too. Before snow falls we're talking about putting plastic on our windows up stairs.
Getting a new exterior doors, just have to pay a trillion dollars to get them installed.
Have more fires!!!
Just got a honkon energy efficent fridge.
Changing out lightbulbs as needed to the more Energy effecient kind.
Try to not pay a sitter every time I need to go somewhere. I just take my kids' and deal with them being lunitics or stay home. thus saving big money.
Attempting to cook at home, nothing gourmet, but edible.
Buying flavored creamer at the store in the big jug and skip Timmies.
Call all my bill people and try to get better rates; Home insur, phone that sorta thing.
Like Kim (without the blech), clean, clean, clean and getting PAID!
Love the no baggie thing. I'll try more tupperware.
